Study on the compensation thresholds for damaged or lost equipment and devices belonging to air passengers with reduced mobility

Project summary:
About 10% of the population in the EU suffer from reduced mobility, mainly the disabled and the elderly. This represents a significant proportion of the population, and one which is likely to increase as the population across Europe ages. The purpose of the study was to conduct an assessment of the possibilities to enhance existing rights under Community, national or international law of air passengers whose wheelchairs or other mobility equipment are destroyed, damaged, or lost during handling at an airport or during transport on-board aircraft. It checked whether any new legislative proposal would be necessary in that field, and identified the necessary provisions.
